Reconstruction of a female australopithecus afarensis based on the post-cranium of Lucy (AL 288-1) and the cast of the skull AL 417. Lucy was discovered in 1974 in Hadar, Ethiopia by Donald Johanson, Maurice Taieb and Yves Coppens.
Lucy is estimated 3.1 million years B.P and was nicknamed after the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".
